A definitive change with dental bridges

Sonrisa Mujer- Dentists in costa rica - Smiles for everyone

Accidents, blows, dental caries, gum disease or simply genetics can cause some people to have missing teeth. When one or more teeth are missing, the recommendation we will give you is to replace them with a fixed prosthesis, because the area that remains free, will cause the adjacent teeth to move or rotate towards the empty space, causing problems in the bite and in some cases in the temporomandibular joint. This joint is the one that allows the jaw to perform chewing movements. So that other structures are affected.

Prior to performing a dental bridge, a clinical and radiographic evaluation must be carried out to verify that the patient is a candidate for the procedure.

Before starting a fixed prosthesis, the dentist must perform wear on the pieces neighboring the area where the tooth was lost, and then make a structure that includes the missing tooth or teeth.

Currently, there are different materials for dental bridges, among which are the following:

Metal porcelain: This is perhaps the most common option, it combines the hardness of metal on the internal part with the esthetics of the external part provided by porcelain. This type of structure allows for complete restorations.

Zirconium: Zirconium frameworks are known as "metal-free bridges" this material gives a more natural finish. It can be used for anterior restorations where esthetics is more compromised.

Porcelain: This option is ideal for small dental bridges with a maximum of three units, or for single crowns. With these a highly esthetic result is obtained.

The choice of the material will be made in conjunction with the dentist, taking into consideration aspects such as esthetics, functionality and economy of the patient.

At Sonrisa para Todos, we offer a solution for each case. Call us and ask us about the alternatives of fixed dental prosthesis.
