25 years of the Smile For All Dental Clinic
It all started with our founder and owner Dr. Mario Bonilla Robert. When he was only 12 years old he already showed his vocation and conviction to become a dentist, he began his studies at the UCR (University of Costa Rica) and when he was in the fourth year of his career he had the opportunity to continue his studies abroad, which was also one of his great illusions, So despite not knowing Portuguese he took the risk and went to the Paulista University in Brazil to continue his university career, which required great courage and effort because he had no family or acquaintances in that country and had to learn a new language in a few months, despite this he finished a year earlier and successfully completed his career by graduating as a dentist. During his last year of his career he was appointed Consul of Costa Rica in Brazil, a position he held for 2 years when he was only 23 years old.
Upon returning to Costa Rica, he performed his social service at the Junta de Abangares in Guanacaste, which helped him to understand and empathize with the public health services provided and the oral health needs of the Costa Rican population.
In 1999 he founded the Sonrisa Para Todos Dental Clinic. Dr. Bonilla says that the name comes from an inspiration of God through a dream. From that moment on, he opened the clinic with the idea of providing patients with a solution to the loss of dental pieces, where he started with flexible removable prosthesis called Valplast, which was a product that existed since the 50's in the United States, but had not yet arrived in Central America. So it was given the task of importing and being representative of the brand nationwide with the main idea of providing the patient the ability to restore your smile in an affordable way, however, after about 6 years of presenting the service with this type of removable dentures realized that despite being a comfortable treatment for the patient did not solve the aesthetic problems, functional and durability that was needed. For this reason, he began to transform the focus of the Dental Sonrisa Para Todos clinic with the acquisition of state-of-the-art technological equipment and the academic training required to offer quality fixed prosthetic treatments, first with dental crowns and bridges and later with dental implants. "I always focus my treatments on options where the patient feels as natural as possible while adequately restoring the patient's masticatory function and esthetics," says Dr. Bonilla.
In 2005, under the need to import quality dental equipment and products in order to offer better treatments and keeping it accessible to the patient, he introduces to his own dental laboratory called Biomedical, high-tech equipment and specializes in CAD-CAM treatments, and also opens a dental warehouse for sale of dental materials and equipment called Binario Digital in order to import and purchase equipment and materials at distributor prices to increase the quality without increasing the cost of dental treatments to patients. Today the Dental Clinic Sonrisa Para Todos specializes in fixed prosthetic treatments of crowns, bridges, conventional dental implants and subperiosteal dental implants specially designed for those cases where there is a considerable deficiency of the maxillary bone. We have reached the point where we could guarantee to most of the patients that there is no case that we cannot restore in a fixed way lowering the possibility of having to perform extra treatments such as bone grafts.
In this 2024 the Clínica Dental Sonrisa Para Todos celebrates its 25th anniversary, being the main motivation for the constant exercise of its owner and its employees to see the happy face of each of their patients, who felt completely complexed, nonconformist, unable to chew properly and had been isolated from society because of their oral problems, transform their insecurities into joy reflected in their eyes to rediscover the pleasure of smiling, to feel comfortable, to be able to chew food properly, to laugh, to speak naturally and with complete confidence feeling that they can return to have a full life and quality makes it the main reason why every day we try to give the best in our professional practice improving every day and bringing the patient the latest in technological advances to continue offering the best treatments as well as to keep always updated to transform the clinic always to a better service for and by patients.
