Is Invisalign as effective as traditional braces?
Yes, for most cases. Invisalign achieves results comparable to braces with the added advantage of being transparent and removable. In very complex cases, the orthodontist will assess whether it is the most suitable option.
How many hours a day should I wear the aligners?
For the best results, aligners should be worn 20 to 22 hours a day. They are only removed to eat, drink colored beverages and perform oral hygiene.
Does Invisalign treatment hurt?
It is normal to feel slight pressure when switching to a new set of aligners. This feeling is temporary and usually disappears in 1 or 2 days. There are no metals or wires to irritate the gums or cheeks.
Can I eat any food with Invisalign?
Yes! This is one of the great advantages of Invisalign. Since they are removable, you can take them out to eat without restrictions. Just remember to brush your teeth before putting them back in.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Duration varies with the complexity of the case. Mild cases with Invisalign Lite can be resolved in 6 to 8 months, while complete treatments last 12 to 24 months on average.
Are retainers needed after Invisalign?
Yes, retainers are necessary at the end of any orthodontic treatment, including Invisalign. They ensure the teeth keep their new position while the bone consolidates. They are mainly worn at night.
